Transition to Online S4 Drug Book & Compliance Audits
It has been brought to our attention that some nurses are not using the S4 online drug book as required. Given recent events in QLD Health (but not limited to QLD and applicable to all nurses), it is essential that we ensure compliance with state laws across Australia.
As per regulations, the prescribing doctor must have live access to every nurse’s S4 medication records. Using a hardcopy drug book makes it difficult for doctors to track stock in real time and ensure compliance. Therefore, all nurses must now transition to using the live online drug book.
Compliance & Auditing Process
To maintain compliance and accountability, the medical team will be conducting regular audits of all S4 Drug Books. Ensuring proper documentation is a key requirement in maintaining your ability to hold and administer S4 medications.
Kathleen from the Accounts Department is available to assist anyone needing help setting up their online drug book. If you do not have access to your Google Sheet, please email billing@juvae.com.au for assistance.
Next Steps for All Nurses:
1. Complete a full stock count of all S4 medications.2. Log all stock under the "IN" column as of today.
3. Begin using the online drug book for every instance of S4 medication use.
