Queensland Health Fact Sheet: Why It Matters
for Every Cosmetic Nurse in Australia
You may have recently heard about the Queensland Health Fact Sheet regarding the administration of S4 medications.
It’s important to understand: this Fact Sheet is not new legislation — it is a clarification of existing requirements under the Poisons Act in Queensland.
Understanding the Poisons Act across Australia:
In Australia, each state and territory has its own Poisons Act (or equivalent legislation).
While these Acts differ slightly — especially around storage permits and handling rules — they are all based on the national Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons (SUSMP), commonly known as the Poison Standard, published by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
Here’s the key point:
- The Poison Standard classifies medicines and poisons nationally (e.g., Schedule 4 for prescription-only medicines like Botox and dermal fillers).
- Each state’s Poisons Act governs how these substances must be prescribed, stored, dispensed, and administered locally — and there are important differences between states.
For example, Victoria and Western Australia already operate with permit systems for storage and dispensing and may not immediately change their regulations in response to Queensland Fact Sheet.
However, regulatory tightening is still coming.
Separate to the Poisons Act changes, AHPRA is preparing to release new cosmetic guidelines federally.
While these AHPRA guidelines will not directly change prescribing, dispensing, or storage laws (and larger prescribing model changes could still take years), they do signal a strong move toward tighter professional standards across cosmetic practice nationally.
In short: the environment is changing — and smart practices will prepare now.

What this means for Juv’ae Nurses:
Juv’ae is proactively setting up every nurse for future compliance and excellence.
As part of this, all Juv’ae nurses are required to attend information sessions about the Queensland Fact Sheet, no matter which state they are practising in.
In addition, we are introducing three major compliance upgrades:
- Temperature Monitoring:
- Patient-specific Labelling:
- Mandatory New CRM System:
Juv’ae will launch a white-labelled clinical and business platform (replacing systems like Timely or Simple Salon) that will automate compliance, recordkeeping, and stock management.
⸻
About the new CRM system:
This new platform will offer you:
- Clinical scripting, injectable notes, and referral management
- Automated marketing, financial tracking, integrated billing, and stock ordering
- Appointment scheduling, team communications, patient apps, loyalty programs, and much more
- Full compliance and governance monitoring — all in one place
It is designed to make compliance seamless while enhancing patient experience and business efficiency.
⸻
A touch on Mindset:
In times of change, your mindset is your greatest strength. When things feel uncertain—like with the recent health regulations and shifts in how we work—it’s easy to feel rattled. But this is your reminder: growth often hides inside discomfort. Let it sharpen you, not shake you. You didn’t build your business to quit when it gets hard. You built it because you believe in what you do. Lean in. Trust yourself. And keep going.
“Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.” – Robert H. Schuller
⸻
In closing:
Although each state’s legislation is different and changes will not happen overnight, cosmetic nursing is moving toward higher regulation, higher transparency, and higher standards.
At Juv’ae, we choose to lead - not react.
By embracing these updates early, you will not only protect your registration and your practice — you will position yourself as a true professional leader in the future of cosmetic medicine.
Thank you for being part of the Juv’ae family and for continuing to raise the bar in our industry.
Further updates and system onboarding details will be released shortly.
With love Mel & Nic
